@woodbuddha: Fantastic work! I really like it!
What was the quality of the surface of the fin? Was is close to the wood model finish?
Please ignore if you don't want to share the model: is there a chance of getting the model of the fin to run FEM calculations? I'd like to see how it's deforming with a side pressure applied.

Re: Designing a Surfboard Fin
Hi,
I am new here and I am trying to design an flying wing using freeCAD.
I imported the airfoil as described in this post and I am not tying to create a ruled surface using 2 different airfoils.
The wing is tapered and has a washout.
Unfortunately nothing I've tried give me a reasonable shape (ruled surface or loft )
See Image and FCStd file attached below.
Any idea why it is not working?
Thanks for your help

Re: Designing a Surfboard Fin
Your BSplines are not closed. If the airfoils were imported from a .dat file, them you'll probably be better served to edit it so the trailing edges start and end at the same point, or at least start and end the same way. As they are currently, you end up with some mismatch on the trailing edge.

Re: Designing a Surfboard Fin
Ok,
since I didnt get any response from the german site I'll post my problem also here. In a nutshell: I'm trying to keep as far as possible from SolidWorks (yes, I have my reasons) when trying to desing a model airplane wing for CNC to cut negative CNC molds (or positive templates, to that matter). The steps how to import a .dat file or useing the airfoil import & scale macro are fine. Using loft I can create new solids. Fine. But how do I create the wing tip? In solidWorks this is possible by first drawing the wing geometry/layout in xy with shapr or round tip and then attaching the aifoil to that - bang - there's your wing. How to make this owkr with FreeCAD?
Maybe someone has a trick...
