Partially redundant constraints

Post by kisolre »

Recently sketcher reports Partially redundant constraints. I found that opening the sketch and checking report vied there is a message

Code: Select all

22:10:10 Analysing groups of constraints of special interest:
[26 26 1 0 0 0 0 ]
22:10:10 Chosen redundants: [26 ]
and indeed No 26 (a symmetry) was partially redundant. But this is buried deep. Can we have a report in the solver messages about that?

I thought I had. Could you post here the offending sketch? (or give me a link to where this sketch is to be found)

I already fixed those :-( But I will dig the backups later...

Here I extracted all of them. They all show redundant constraints in report view, none of them show the warning in solver messages (I saw it on occasion fixing them).

Indeed. Thank you. It is coded so that only shows the message if the sketch is not fully constrained (if you add one line, you will see the message). I will fix this today.

Thanks, works as expected now :)
Maybe a different color for the warning would be better. Now it looks like a serious error..

shhh... do not wake Chrisb up... I'll change the color...

Which color should it be?

No idea. But the color of the report view warnings looks like a good candidate. Not sure how readable will it be. Or some green one as "suggested improvement to your sketch" :)

And here I am, one eye is already open...
The color could be something orangeish, perhaps the same as for the warnings in report view?
A Sketcher Lecture with in-depth information is available in English, auf Deutsch, en français, en español.

I knew you were going to say that, so I anticipated:

Kilsore was suggesting to use something green... which I am sure you would not like.
