Re: Dimension between two parallel lines
Without such additional behaviour it wouldn't be stable at all, because one of the parallel lines could be rotated, making the distance constraint invalid.Pauvres_honteux wrote: ↑Sat Jul 03, 2021 8:57 pm If the lines aren't parallel (you automatically get an angle value) you just right-click and select "distance" and the lines magically becomes parallel !

Re: Dimension between two parallel lines
To automatically generate a parallelism constraint could lead to problems if the lines are already constrained parallel in any other way, i.e. the sketch becomes over constrained.
Ideally there would be some intelligence that offers to automatically remove one of the conflicting constraints. But I think, the way that it works today would be sufficient - you get a warning and have to remove another constraint manually.

Re: Dimension between two parallel lines
Let's not push it over the top and create completely new solver concepts. The issues with conflicting or redundant constraints are already there and are already dealt with.

Re: [Ticket #4700] Dimension between two parallel lines
Hi hic, would you mind prepend your headline of this thread with [Ticket #4700] ?
See how I did it in this post.

Re: Dimension between two parallel lines
I think @paddle has implemented this in "constrain contextual" amongst other things
