Earlier today, I was trying to work on a drawing and learn, and my son threw something onto the keyboard which wiped everything, all my work away.
Now tonight, I am trying to do my simplistic drawing, painfully making holes in my 2d drawing. And boom, I simply hit number pad 3 and everything wiped into a flat horizontal line.
This is very problematic. I thought and thought about it. I think I need to find the 2d view. If I hit top view, I now find, I only get the non grid view back. Without my grid, I can't work any more and need to start over.
Any hints on how to get the grid back? I hit grid and nothing. I even have it set to never hide the grid. But apparently there is a bug, or there is some override mechanism that is not obvious?

Re: hitting number pad three wipes the drawing
Numpad 3 will take you to a right view: hit 2 to return to top view, if that's what you were looking at before. You can see the various shortcuts in the View->Standard Views menu.
