Number entry box is a little small

Post by skrauster »

I'm using 0.19 on Linux Mint Cinnamon 20. The window that pops up to enter dimensions is too small so the value in the entry box is not fully shown.

I can drag the pop up box and make it larger so that it is readable.

I probably have some Linux desktop value for text set to something that is causing this considering that I've tweaked sizes of things prior to ever installing FreeCAD, so I doubt that its a bug with FreeCAD but I don't know what I should change to make the text fit better. Anybody have any ideas what I need to change?

Please attach your full FreeCAD info as described in the IMPORTANT forum rules linked above. "0.19" is a wide range.

similar here (cinnamon and mint20), using sketcher pop-up as example.
v0.18.4 through sw manager (not ppa) (qt 5.12.5)
--> not correct height of spinboxes in pop-ups, but they are correct in for example the data-view
making the pop-up larger does not help, since the widgets do not expand in height

v0.19.1 as appimage (qt 5.12.9)
--> works out of the box with correct height of spinboxes in pop-ups.
here the widgets expand in height,
which emphasizes the fact that the expression icon is in a fixed position.
(which btw looks funny at times, maybe it could be possible for that one to be "middle aligned" in the future)

both is without stylesheet, although the sw mgr installed one is picking up the system style, whereas the appimage does not.

it kind of looks like the pop-up spinbox is using the height of the icon for expressions as its "calculated height", rather than the text height.
unfortunately the same behaviour with too small height on the spinbox is present on for example mesh wb/regular solid, which does not have an expression icon, making it less likely that it is related, but who knows.

ps: you did not mention method of installation, which clearly matters...

I have two versions. 1) the one that I installed through the mint Software Manager. It is the one where I showed the "about" information I was reminded to post yesterday....

and 2) while I've been struggling to understand how I should design with the topo rename issue I downloaded a realThunder appimage:

OS: Linux Mint 20 (X-Cinnamon/cinnamon)
Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 2021.328.24301 +3441 (Git) AppImage
Build type: Release
Branch: LinkStage3
Hash: 0a157a307c91d241a370cdda6d8f0471b7c48915
Python version: 3.8.8
Qt version: 5.12.9
Coin version: 4.0.1
OCC version: 7.4.0
Locale: English/United States (en_US)

And with that version when I launch that appimage I don't see the box size problem.
