Transforming separate pads

Post by NikosSprocket »

Hello!

I am trying to use the Transformation/MultiTransformation from the Part Design and I am getting "transformed shapes do not intersect support" when the Pads do not touch. So I added a small pad of 1x1x.1mm between them but that worked only for the 1st one. is there a way I can create an array of square pads without having a full object underneath of all of them?

Original Try without any connections:

Fully touching Pads ok.

With a small pad in between, but it worked only for the 1st one.

Any suggestions/work-around will be most appreciated.

Cheers!

UPDATE

Well, I cheated!

3D printers cannot print anything below 0.01 mm so I created a "base" Pad of 0.01mm and placed the array of the pads on top of it. That worked.

Still, if anyone knows a more elegant way do do the same without the "cheating" Pad, please let me know.

Cheers!

Transforming a whole body as described would break the single solid rule. :o

One should use the Draft WB array tool, NB this tool should be used on the whole body (The Body object)not the last feature as is usual in PD WB.

Such a connector should be sufficient, but you have to pattern it as well. An alternative is the Draft->LinearArray.
