Hi Community,
OS: openSUSE Leap 15.2 (KDE//usr/share/xsessions/default)
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.20.Unknown
Build type: Release
Python version: 3.6.10
Qt version: 5.12.7
Coin version: 4.0.0
OCC version: 7.5.1
Locale: German/Germany (de_DE)
together with the openSUSE specific LibreDWG packages:
libredwg0
libredwg-tools
yesterday I tried to import two *.dwg files to Draft WB in the XY plane. It appears that the containing lines were completely imported as some thousand shapes. No error codes have been submitted from report view.
But the containing text objects in .dwg file are completely missing.
I have no idea why the text is lost after importing.
If I toggle grid another interesting visual representation could be remarked. It looks like the "last anthropometric man standing" on draft grid plane.
See here:

.
If I toggle grid the "man" is gone...
Has anyone an idea why text will be not imported and what this "anthropometric man" is about?

what should be done with the text? you can "only" use gemomtrie in freecad.

Hi Thomas,
the obvious thing for the lazy: editing, adding, moving, etc.
Afaik text in *.dwg files is also vector geometry, or is it diffently treated?

It is probably easier and faster to create new 3d dimensions than to import and move 2d dimensions
Re: LibreDWG: no text imported + draft grid: last anthropometric man standing
sorry, I'm talking about simple text, that is vanished after LibreDWG import.
I'm not talking about dimensional text...

Re: LibreDWG: no text imported + draft grid: last anthropometric man standing
text in geometry files is always difficult. if you've made it in one case, it doesn't mean that it always works that way. what should work well is text that is created from lines.
Re: LibreDWG: no text imported + draft grid: last anthropometric man standing
Do you want to discus a bug/problem related to the experimental LibreDWG DXF import or are you looking for a way to import a DXF with text? There are numerous preferences related to DXF import, including several importers. It is certainly possible to import text objects from a DXF.
That is nonsense. Such a 'text' is virtually useless.thomas-neemann wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 10:09 am what should work well is text that is created from lines.
Re: LibreDWG: no text imported + draft grid: last anthropometric man standing
First of all I want to discuss the probable bug respectively missing capability of the experimental LibreDWG DXF importer.
Second (I'm pretty sure according experiences a working solution in the LibreDWG importer will take a much longer time) a provisional *.dwg text objects import solution would be great.
