Using an existing parts geometry

Post by DaveC »

Firstly I apologise if this has already been asked, I have tried searching for the answer.
( I am probably asking the wrong question...)

I have created a part, and I now want to make a clamp to fit the part.
Is there a way to use the existing parts geometry, but only produce the clamp?

Yes.

If you want a better answer you will need to provide more information, including a general sketch of what you are trying to accomplish.

As a general procedure you can use a cube, big enough to cover the object. If you make a boolean cut and subtrtact the object from the block you get a sort of clamp.
