To Flip or Not to Flip, That is the Question (Datum Planes)
If one has a Datum Plane, how does one know which direction is positive Z? When altering attachment mode, I never know which side is going to be the Sketch side, without trying one way, start a sketch, see which side it is on, go back change it, try again.
Is there any visual way? Like turn on little co-oridinate axis or something?

For me it was so far that I could orientate myself on the faded in axis cross

My answer is: don't use datum planes when a single sketch will suffice.
Adding a datum plane to attach a single sketch is redundant and superfluous...
This is IMO and YMMV.
As to flipping and datum or sketch, that is determined by the way you want to work...

Besides drmacro's remark: There is already a feature request concerning this.

Sorry I don't quite understand how you determine which was is positive Z. Can you see a difference in the fading in the axis cross?thomas-neemann wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 3:34 pm For me it was so far that I could orientate myself on the faded in axis cross

I also think is could have some usage to be able to display individual objects orientation.
Anyway, till it's possible, you can use a PartDesign CoordinateSystem instead of (or in addition to) your Datum plane.

if i understood your question correctly, it even works when the datumplan is rotated. the displayed origin serves as orientation

Thanks for the video. I am not sure what you are trying to illustrate. In my situation the displayed axis does not correspond to the datum axis. If I go in +X, it goes in the -Y direction. And +Y direction is maybe +Z direction (not sure), as shown here:thomas-neemann wrote: ↑Sat Jun 19, 2021 11:14 am if i understood your question correctly, it even works when the datumplan is rotated. the displayed origin serves as orientation

For me it is like this, if I start the datuplane in the xy plane, I can move and twist it as desired, it always corresponds to the coordinate system.
