Complex Curves

Post by justacec »

I am trying to model the bottom of my laptop (Dell 7420) to create a custom dock. I have been able to get the majority of the features in with the exception of two, the keyboard indentation and the complex curvature on the bottom. I have modeled the base so far as a deeper solid than the actual laptop is with the intent to cutout the other portions. I am currently not sure what the best work flow would be to model the complex curves needed for each section. I have been working solely in the Part Design WB so far and would like to try my best to stay there, if possible.

Current Model Progress:

I could try to generate a series of sketches and then do a loft cutout, but seems like there might be a better way? Not sure how to get the curvature profiles right on the lofting.

Thank you for any suggestions.
