How to select two points far away from each others in TechDraw ?

In TechDraw, middle mouse dragging deselects everything in terms of point selection for Insert Length Dimension
Insert Length Dimension doesn't allow post selection, so how do I do that ? It's already really tricky to select one single vertex as the target for the vertices is way too small (the actual pixels are used for the hit test, not a larger target like a circle centered on the vertex), and there is no helper to disambiguate close targets.

You can change the size here
Can turn view frames off to hide vertices

With Preferences->Display->Navigation->Zoom at cursor, you can easily zoom in and out to the right position.

CMIIW but it seems like this setting only applies to 3d views (I checked). It always zooms to cursor in TechDraw.

Zoom to cursor does the trick:
- place mouse on first point - zoom in and select
- zoom out
- place mouse on second point - zoom in and select

Takes much longer to write up than to do it .
