Issue #6234 - Sketch partially vanishes on zoom in

Post by chrisb »

I have this sketch (originating from a map reverse which caused flipping the arcs):
SnipScreenshot-25c423.png
SnipScreenshot-25c423.png (25.21 KiB) Viewed 1325 times
When I zoom in so that the upper and lower outer lines are outside of 3D view, then the arcs all of a sudden vanish:

SnipScreenshot-4c8fc8.png (22.23 KiB) Viewed 1325 times
I have already restarted FreeCAD. The procedure to reproduce is:
- open the file
- edit Sketch
- zoom in.

It turns out to be even worse, if I use FitAll: The sketch disappears completely from 3D view.

I confirm (and complete disappear with fit2all too).

Thanks for the confirmation. Abdullah, is this a Sketcher issue?

I get an error message in the Report View, "Camera settings failed to read".

However, if I click on the orientation icons at the top of the display I can get the sketch to show up correctly in the sketcher window. (The shape is invisible in the default orientation.)

I have never used Map Reversed in this manner, so I have no idea what is supposed to happen.

I always thought it should just flip the sketch 180°. I have used MapReversed before, and never experienced any issues. I'm very sure that it shouldn't cause weird visibility issues.

It is weird. I get it by just moving the view using drag and drop:
Peek 26-06-2021 07-19.gif
Peek 26-06-2021 07-19.gif (283.54 KiB) Viewed 1153 times
There is no redrawing by the sketcher at this point. This is why I think it is Coin/Camera configuration related. It is as if there were an actual camera view that is smaller than the view represented in the 3D view. In such a case Coin could decide not to represent what is outside of the actual camera view thinking that it is not going to be seen anyway. However, this is just an assumption, as I do not have the time to look into it in depth.

It is a bug to be reported, that for sure.

When I open this file the report view gives: Camera settings failed to read
This is a perhaps an indication for the strange behavior
