If I make the Extrude objects all visible the cut succeeds, but if they are invisible the cut fails. Seems like a bug since visibility should not affect a boolean operation, but I'm really not familiar with using Links and LinkGroups.

Many thanks.

As a newbie I'm confused enough about FreeCAD, and not knowing if a problem is actually a feature, a quirk, a bug, or most likely me doing something stupid, is just another loose-end I could well do without. But you have put my mind at rest ...its not just me!

Thanks to all that have offered help.
