Just a note.

The Part (yellow icon) in the feature tree, in the image you posted, is not only not required, as shown, it is doing nothing.

In general, it is not needed for single components.

It does find use when you want to have multiple components the retailer there location relative to each other and move a a unit (i.e. more linked an assembly or sub-assembly).

so to catch up with my ignorance,
I suggest you do it in one shot, rotating a triangular profile with the hole and the cunterbore included

Thanks drmacro.

Initially I'd assumed that all designs needed a Part or a Body as a top level entity.
I've read the wiki description for Part and Body...not sunk in yet...still taking Baby Steps!

Anyway I added a 2nd cylinder to create a counter-bore.

seriously, what do you call the cone nut in picture
A conical thread is a "tapered" thread. Commonly used for fitting pipes together.

The OP did not mention thread at all, so I guessed that he wanted something with tilted walls.

I'm sorry, one more question on this topic.

I decided to make a more complex object than the simple cone, so created a 6 sided extrusion and worked out (I think) that I needed to create a group in order to carry out a boolean cut with a cylinder (called Hole3mm).

So far so good, but then I add a 2nd cylinder (called Hole7mm) to create a counter-bore.

However, I can't work out how to make this 2nd boolean cut. Can anyone advise?

No need to mix Part and Part Design...look at this feature tree:

Also take note of the attachment offset of Sketch003 to make the counterbore.

Better not to mix Part and PD WB's.

Make the Boolean between Cut and hole7mm. :D
