TrimmedFace use only curves to trim a surface. But you have founded out how to trim a face with a surface. ;)

but that one is not parametric to my understanding
you mean the option in Shape Builder ?

The join tool with its build in trimming is super useful

The WB reminds me a lot of working with semi construction history giving you the ability to save stages and branch out
