Boolean and groove does not work for spherical gear

Hello everyone,
I found this interesting construct on Youtube and wanted to model it in Freecad for some fun:

I have tried three different modeling approaches for the spherical gear so far, but none of them worked. All three approaches are based on a sketch I created using the Involute Gear function from Part Design Workbench and the Convert Bidirectional function from Draft Workbench.

1.) Two "quarter" spheres twisted to each other and an intersection boolean function just doesn't give a result. (Part Workbench)

2.) Similar to the first, only this time I built a "shell" that I subtract. Also returns no result. (Part Workbench)

3.) Similar to #2, but this time in Part Design Workbench using the Revolve and Groove functions. This does give a result, but it is not what it was supposed to be.

Am I doing something wrong, or maybe the geometry is just too complex?

Hi,

thanks for the response, but the outcome is not what I was looking for. The two objects should not be put together, but the intersection of both should be formed.

sorry, the videos bore me, most of the time they are rotten
