UI doesn't appear correctly.

Post by _HG_ »

Hi !

I have installed FreeCAD 0.19 on both my desktop (Dell Optiplex 790) and my laptop (Dell Latitude E5510).
Both are running Manjaro Linux and are updated.
On the laptop, FreeCAD appear correctly, but not on the desktop.
For example, when in 'Sketcher', the icons all comes in a long row and disappear outside the edge of the screen,
and there is no handle to move the icon row.
But when using the laptop, the icons comes in different rows, with a handle, and are movable.
Of practical reasons, I use the desktop for CAD work, but I want it to look like (and function like) the laptop.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

The images are not visible. You have linked a page containing images, not the image itself. Use the preview function before posting.

To get rid of the rests of the Draft toolbar, switch to Draft workbench and back to sketcher.

I can see the vertical bars at the toolbars, where you should be able to grab them for moving.

You can also reset the configuration with the button in the preferences. Another possibility is to delete your config files or to move them in case you want to restore them.

And could you fix your issue as well?

No, the issue is still there.
I deleted user.cfg and system.cfg but it did not help.

The desktop (the one with issues):

OS: Manjaro Linux (XFCE/xfce)
Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.19.24291 (Git)
Build type: Release
Branch: makepkg
Hash: 7b5e18a0759de778b74d3a5c17eba9cb815035ac
Python version: 3.9.5
Qt version: 5.15.2
Coin version: 4.0.1
OCC version: 7.5.0
Locale: Swedish/Sweden (sv_SE)

----------

The laptop:

OS: Ubuntu Core 20 (XFCE/xfce)
Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.19.24276 (Git)
Build type: Unknown
Branch: releases/FreeCAD-0-19
Hash: a88db11e0a908f6e38f92bfc5187b13ebe470438
Python version: 3.8.5
Qt version: 5.12.8
Coin version: 4.0.0
OCC version: 7.5.0
Locale: English/United States (en_US)

----------

Both are running Manjaro Linux and both are Swedish locale,
so I don't know why the info says different.

Maybe you use a different XFCE theme( or what ever it is called) on them? The area above those little arrows inn the Desktop image should be where you click and drag to rearrange the toolbars.

It is definitely theme related, I installed manjaro on a lap top and had the same problem you are seeing.

Change theme from macha-sea to default, and all is well. Other themes may also work IDK, YMMV. :D

I found I can switch back to macha-sea and the changes stand.....
