Yeah I did that too but when I pad extruded it up to lid it extruded the wall through lid and in addition cut the center out like it was pad and pocket together

I used the face align

When I discuss Pad and Extrude, I always make sure to make it clear whether I am, indeed, talking about Pad or Extrude.

In FreeCAD they are similar but different.

Yes, I know full well, in other software the term "extrude" is used and in the CAD world at large it is a term used widely.

But, the difference between Pad and Extrude is a point of confusion for, especially new comers, and in conversations with old timers when the operation names are used without context.

I've helped and tutored a fair number of FreeCAD users and found it helps to make it abundantly clear.

oh man lack of offset and selecting sketch profiles for pocket or pad makes this frustrating detail to model those slots

Here is a thickness that works. Made a pad first and carved it up.

This one does some complex thickening on the inside, around the pocket.

Constrained Array in Sketcher, pretty easy, like 2 minutes. Unless your trying to follow the radius, that will take a little effort.

What first came to my mind is make the slots go out of the part at the bottom and use pad and pocket to close the model again.
