Anyone able to see what what this noob has borked?
Creating a new sketch on a face of a body (interior face of my box) opens sketcher on it's side (X flipped vertical, Z horizontal). Clicking on the orientation box thing in the corner flips the sketch the right way up, but also flips the constraint tools 90degrees, so a line drawn on the X axis is considered vertical.
I'm a complete beginner so it is unlikely to be a bug and hopefully has an obvious solution.
Thanks

Re: Need help. Sketcher opens with 90dergee flip
It's normal.
If you select a face for a sketch, it will be 'reversed' if you are looking the backside of a regular plane.
Front face of XY = normal sketch
Backside face of XY = 'reversed' sketch
btw, first pocket could be replace with PartDesign_Thickness. You should not use more than once the same dimension.

Not sure why it's doing that but it's not like opening a text document where the app always knows what to do, that being said you might need to deal with some irregularities.
Most everyone has seen Sketcher open in a different orientation but typically not at 90 degrees.
Sketcher has a property to map to reverse.

Thanks for checking it out.
After watching some more tutorials, I've decided to just start over rather than attempt to fix this model since I hadn't really done that much and the lack of symmetry and formulas is going to make further work harder than necessary. Hopefully won't get myself quite so lost this time.

Re: Need help. Sketcher opens with 90dergee flip
If you have a 90° flip, you can change the AttachmentOffset and turn the sketch by ±90° around ist z axis.

Re: Need help. Sketcher opens with 90dergee flip
As you say Chris B. setting a 90 degree attachment offset solves the behaviour for constraints when editing the sketch in both the example file and another that I have looked at.
What I don't understand is why the 90 degree flip occurs and is expected behaviour, or why once the flip has occurred the behaviour of the constraints should change.
Is it something to do with local coordinates and normals and why?

Re: Need help. Sketcher opens with 90dergee flip
I'm not sure exactly what happened to the OP but I wrote a macro once that makes a new property at sketch creation/edit time and saves the current camera view and zoom level prior to sketcher opening. If anyone wants this I could post it. I always thought it would be useful on some big model with a bunch of small features or if you need to model off normal.
Re: Need help. Sketcher opens with 90dergee flip
I don't really know how the orientation is calculated; I take it as granted. If I need more, I have to use an attachment where I can control the orientation.
