Airfoil Wing with Washout
I have been trying to create a solid airfoil wing with 9 degrees washout at the wing tip.
Using the part WB Sweep I get a reasonable result but once I add the washout at the tip it goes all wrong!
Is there a better to create this solid?
OS: Windows 10 (10.0)

Re: Airfoil Wing with Washout
Try curved shapes add-on.
Re: Airfoil Wing with Washout
... reproducing your profile by BSpline.
I don't understand what you intend with "washout"?

Re: Airfoil Wing with Washout
CurvedArray make a very close same shape. The end of the Bspline (trailing edge) without thickness can carry out small errors.

Re: Airfoil Wing with Washout
Thanks for the two examples. But both don't give the "washout", which is a twisting of the trailing edge.
Refer to the attached screenshot where you can see the wing tip airfoil (the smaller one) trailing edge is higher than the root airfoil (which is horizontal. The leading edge remains horizontal as well.
The reason to do this is so that the wing tip portion of the wing stalls after the root portion the the wing.
Look forward to to further comments.

Re: Airfoil Wing with Washout
I got it solved.
The root airfoil was generated with Airfoil_Import_Scale macro with the DWire option (previously I used BSpline option).
The tip airfoil was a clone of the root airfoil, scaled, re positioned and rotated.
Then I used the Part WB Loft. This got the 9 degrees washout at the trailing edge of the tip airfoil I was wanting.
How do I "remove" the longitudinal lines, refer attached?

Re: Airfoil Wing with Washout
... I would call the "washout" Twist or Pitch.
Your root is a wire/polygon profile - a BSpline would be smooth.
(Testprofil_2 something to play with - look at curvature combs from CurvesWB)

Re: Airfoil Wing with Washout
Thanks Hammax. The airfoil sketch included in your attachment was great, I will experiment with it later on.
Tried the Comb feature of the Curves WB but the created combs did not appear in the selection list in the Part WB - Loft!
Cheers Sandy.

Re: Airfoil Wing with Washout
Thanks again Hammax that airfoil sketch works brilliantly!
Re: Airfoil Wing with Washout
@Hammax wie könnte man so ein Wing im Freecad verstärken für ein 3D Print?
Beispiel siehe https://hackaday.com/2022/08/26/a-guide ... aft-wings/
Evtl müsste man einen neuen Thread eröffnen?
