Pocket and slot at an angle
I am trying to make a cad drawing of a part as described in the attached png with FreeCAD .19 I have got the main part done (I think), but I cannot figure out how to make the pocket and slot at the correct angles. I am a raw newby and new to this forum. I hope my question is not out of line.

* Datum plane on YZ-plane with Y rotation = +/- 25°
* Sketch upon this Datum plane
* Sketch upon this Datum plane

Hmm...extra steps, superfluous object.Shalmeneser wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 9:41 am * Datum plane on YZ-plane with Y rotation = +/- 25°

Sketch on YZ-plane with Y rotation = +/- 25°, done.
I'm lazy, and I avoid extra stuff in the feature tree, reduces my eye strain.

Re: Pocket and slot at an angle
@drmacro : Are you lazy enough to avoid my Datum plane ?
Re: Pocket and slot at an angle
First I would simplify the existing model: Model it symmetric to XY-plane makes the cylinder, Sketch002 and the hole obsolete.
For the pocket: Attach a sketch with mode FrenetNB to the outer circle. That places it at the top. Move it around the circle by 3/8 by changing the MapPath parameter and make a pocket with two lengths going through the whole outside.
For the slot: Place a sketch on YZ-plane. Turn it -25° around Y-axis. Pocket reversed through all. Edit: Others were faster, but as I wrote some text and did it without the DatumPlane I add it anyway.

Re: Pocket and slot at an angle
1st time I ever see this. Great !
Have you got other examples of such use ?
(This method is not for the newbie.)
The Map Path Parameter works for the whole circle, not just the arc ?
Why not then Z-offset and Pocket through all ?
Re: Pocket and slot at an angle
Wow, nice work. There is a lot for me to unpack here, so I will have to study this a bit. Thanks for the help. You guys are great.
Re: Pocket and slot at an angle
This is indeed not for the newbie! The MapPath is always only on the edge, that's why I used the whole outer circle. I did something similar in the other topic with the cylindrical cutout.Shalmeneser wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 12:45 pm The Map Path Parameter works for the whole circle, not just the arc ?

I didn't use the Z-offset, because I wanted to stay as close as possible at the original drawing. As it is not for the newbie anyway, an Expression may have been easier, perhaps even clearer.
