need help

I am trying to learn and use FreeCad, but having tons of trouble.
I'll start with something that in my mind should be easy, but I can't get past one sketch and padding. Adding making a channel (dado in wood), and slot:
The idea is to make a slotted channel near each end of the wood, offset from the end by about the thickness of the wood, slotted half way down and through.
Such that four boards would interlock to form a box, square, or rectangle.

I get one padding done for the board, and get stuck, because I try to make channel and that's it. stuck.
I have tried over and over for hours. watched dozen of videos... frustrated.

Thanks you for your effort. However, the video did not have audio and is a German version. Also, seems to go very fast and is hard to keep up. Audio and English and slower would be helpful.

Thank You for the file. This is nearly exactly what I am going for.

My objective is to use spreadsheet for all values, and then create different box frame sizes, square and rectangle.

I have updated the post with screen shot and scans of pencil drawing of what I'm trying to do.

I downloaded the file. and will study it.

YouTube videos can be stopped with the space bar and forwarded one frame at a time with the arrow keys.

They also have a a speed control. If you click the gear icon (typically in the lower right of the video screen and select playback speed you can reduce it to as low as 0.25 normal.

Of course doesn't help with the translation...unless you can understand slower German.

this is nearly what I am trying to do. The channel on both sides should go the full width of the board. In my head a see an interlocking and squaring.
I am studying the file you provided.
