Hence the fact that I waste a lot of time to test if flatten still works during a simple project, and then I don't know if it is me or the workbench.

To the developers, I like FC but am not so sure I can use it in production environment where time is money.

The developers time is also money! ;) Hence the issues!

FreeCAD is great for people like me who have no option (you mentioned you use Fusion360, I just checked its monthly cost, and its more than my current total monthly income).

Sheetmetal offset problem

Post by rynn »

Hello,

The offset parameter of Sheetmetal does not work, or I do not understand how it should work. For me, offset changes nothing at all. I expect the offset to push out Bend002 (the outer sidewalls) like in the picture on the left (simulated with extend), but it does not.
(I posted this on the german board but was directed here)

I merged your separate topic into this one.
A Sketcher Lecture with in-depth information is available in English, auf Deutsch, en français, en español.

Would it be possible to open a forum section for addon Workbenches ?
It's difficult to follow a post with no tail.
.

Why ?

Because it seems that the SheetMetal experts follow this topic but not all of the general Help requests.

I would appreciate seperate sections for intesively discussed addons. Measure would be a certain number of posts.

Open a new post with a specific title

Thank you!
Hi guys and mods, I just would like to mention thats some admin changes occured recentetly about this topic (change of name, change of topic number maybe?). Edit: or wathever change.
Consequently all external links to this topic are now broken. IMHO that's too bad.
@ sfgrayson, here is the link: https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic. ... 74#p446006
Edit2: @sfygrayson: be aware such workflow with 3D offset is very powerfull for fully free 3D part, except for Z shapes though, because of some limitations of Part_3D offset feature about alternate bends (Z). I will ask to devs about that someday.

Why was the title of this thread changed, and how to change it back?
