Hi Chris, for some reasons it seems this merge has modified the former title of this thread (Sheet Metal Workbench).
BTW I'm updating some broken links.

Re: Sheetmetal offset problem

Hi,
it took a while to find this post, but here I am.

I'm trying to find out how the SheetMetal tools work to generate some examples to show on the wiki pages.

I think there are useful new tools added to the workbench, but the documentation is... - let's say poor. At least I have found some information that is deeply hidden in this thread.

Now, while I'm trying to recreate the examples of this thread, I found an error in the Extend Face tool:

- I activated a sketch
- I set the offset to 3 mm
- I set the Use Substraction value to true and this is what happened:

The slot is always positioned within the cylindrical connection surface. If I omit the last wall it will appear in the lower bend.

It doesn't matter which recent FC version I use the result is the same. I tried 0.20.255xx, RT daily and RT stable on a Mac with Big Sur and on a Mac with an older OS. And so I don't think it's due to a crazy hardware & software combination.

BTW is there any cause for the second s in substraction?

Once again, avoid using a dynosore that no longer corresponds to the current version
For your problem, I don't understand how you do the top lunge without pocket
and how you use Extend for the extension
if you do an extension that crosses a wall, Unfold will be impossible, you have to do a Pocket before
here is an example, I leave you the pleasure of doing it for real

That is the most interesting part of the extension command: You extend an edge with the shape of a sketch and the holes are cut, too, without any further step.

It is not well documented yet, but if you want to describe how to use it, it would be nice if it behaved like intended/expected. And it does with the latest modification.

Can this product be produced in real life on a sheet metal machine?
