Exporting files
Hello,
I have a donut with text inscribed in it. I select the cut and export to a step file. When I open the step file the text is filled.
Can anyone tell what is wrong?
Regards,
Joe K.

Please read the documentation: Std_Export.
Specifically the selection instructions.

Confirmed. I don't think you did anything wrong.

Re: Exporting files
Rotate the circle sketch so that the seamline does not intersect the cut, and then do the export again.
Select sketch -> edit menu -> placement -> check apply incremental changes -> check use center of mass -> set y for axis -> rotate 90 degrees

Re: Exporting files
That says nothing about the issue discussed here. Read the message: it says the font file is missing.thomas-neemann wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 9:08 pm apparently something is wrong with the fcstd file. realthunder throws an error message when opening.

Re: Exporting files
ok, can you say that a freecad file can only be processed further on the operating system on which it was created? (If the question doesn't fit here, I could open a new topic.)
Re: Exporting files
Not in general, but fonts are not included in the file for license reasons. I have proposed a long time ago to allow at least relative paths for them. Then I could just send a project folder containing model plus fonts to another system an it would work there.thomas-neemann wrote: ↑Thu Aug 05, 2021 6:08 am ok, can you say that a freecad file can only be processed further on the operating system on which it was created? Re: Exporting files
Greetings to the Community!
I describe my experimentation:
- I imported the "Ring Sizer 10.step" file (the original one attached to the topic) into another cad and it was imported correctly (with the number 10 hollowed in the ring).
- From a cad (not FC) I exported “Ring Sizer 10” again in * .step format, renaming it to “Ring Sizer 10-2.step”, it went from a source weight of 242 kb to 97 kb.
- I tried to import "Ring Sizer 10-2.step" into FC without success because FC never stops importing the file and I was forced, after a long time, to kill the import.
- Even the original file, "Ring Sizer 10.step", I can't import it into FC and I'm forced to kill the import, I don't want to wait all day in front of the monitor.
Since the other cad takes a few tenths of a second to import the two files, I believe that the latest FC updates have, with all probability, compromised the code that implies the import / opening of the * .steps; does anyone know of this eventuality?
I attach the file "Ring Sizer 10-2.step" exported with other cad with the hope that someone will be able to import it in a version of FC different from mine:
