reloaded wireframe no aligned to snap grid as saved?
New to Freecad, but not my first rodeo.
Working on a wireframe to get started. Snapping everything to the grid as I go, and saving iterations of my work.
Closed the app and restarted, reloading my drawing and found that nothing is aligned to the grid.
How can I get things re-aligned again?
And how to do ensure that the drawing is save in an aligned fashion?
THanks in advance

Please attach your full FreeCAD info as described in the IMPORTANT forum rules linked above.
Please note that the grid is only an editing aid, nothing is attached to it. If you change the grid, the wire will not follow.
You may consider to start with Sketcher instead of Draft. Depending on what you want to do it may be easier to start with a PartDesign model.

Re: reloaded wireframe no aligned to snap grid as saved?
thanks for the reply..
So if the snap grid is not connected to the drawing geometry, what good is it?
How does it help to not be able to use this referrence point from one session to the next if there is no relationship that is maintained.
Drawings need to be modified in their life cycle, and having some hard reference points to make editing work properly is vital.
What am I missing here??

Perhaps you are missing the Sketcher. I am still missing your FreeCAD infos. The file should of course stay the same if closed and reopened.

Which grid size did you use?

Re: reloaded wireframe no aligned to snap grid as saved?
This is the start of an arch model in the US so 304.8 (12")
Re: reloaded wireframe no aligned to snap grid as saved?
hm, aligned..., aligned in size of grid-ticks or aligned in 3d space?
fc is a 3d program, afaik the grid (or rather working plane) aligns perpendicular to the camera view,
so suppose that is what you experienced,
no probs, just realign to the orientation you want,
you can use Draft_Tray as a starting point to read a bit about it.
if it is about the spacing there are preferences for that, Draft_Preferences#Grid_and_snapping.
btw, fc has several different workbenches, it is of course obvious to you which wb you are using,
regardless it does not hurt to be explicit in what wb is used.

Re: reloaded wireframe no aligned to snap grid as saved?
I could link videos to you here as I work quickly with arch.
i have used the method to create several commercial constructions. no complaints.

I admit that grid and I have never made friend due to its cumbersome visibilities, but I cannot reproduce your issue.
I have set the grid in Preferences to 304.8mm (which again is rather strange that it cannot be set according to the unit system).
This is how it looks before closing the document: And this after closing and reopening and fumbling with the grid visibility: OS: macOS 10.16
