help with "groove" in part design

hi,

working my way through freecadtuts "FreeCAD 0.19" and tried to get groove to work but keep getting "failed to validate broken face" I can get revolve and pocket to work without a problem but this one just doesn't work. I have tried putting in a reference axis, using horizontal and vertical axis but the same message always comes up.

If someone could point me to a reference or tutorial or just help, I would appreciate it.

Add the file and tell exactly where it fails.

Problem with the sketch ? Sketcher_ValidateSketch
Try to Pad the sketch to check it.

create part
pad
select top face
open face selected in sketch
add semicircle to face and save
select groove
select horizontal axis for rotation
360 degrees
hit OK and boom
"Failed to validate broken face"


I'm really new to this stuff, last time I did a drawing was on a drawing board with t-square and triangles.

Your semicircle is not a closed curve. It is missing the diameter.
The grid in sketcher is a distraction.
