Where is "Export selected geometries as one single child object" ?

Post by Fran_iii »

In the FreeCAD YouTube Tutorial "FreeCAD shorts. The pick geometry tool" at...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vUZezMhwwow

OficineRobotica references an icon in Part Design Sketcher named...

"Export selected geometries as one single child object"

He also uses it in this YouTube Tutorial "FreeCAD shorts. Multiple pads from one master sketch" at...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JdwrVEKvIU

I can't find the icon in Sketcher. I also looked in the Wiki for Sketcher.

Has this been discontinued or what?

Thanks for any help.

IIRC this user uses LinkStage mod of FreeCAD, not master.

Thanks openBrian. I was unaware of other versions of FreeCAD.

So, is there a way in the "master" FreeCAD version (I'm using v0.19) to export items from a sketch as he does in the video where he uses the "Export selected geometries as one single child object" icon in that other version?

Thanks for the help.

FreeCAD v0.19
Windows 10 Pro
64 bit
Intel i7 Processor

Cant you create a SubShapeBinder of just the desired edges from the sketch and export that?

Hi all.

Does anybody know where this option is? It's quite practical grouping sketches for multiple padding on the same sketch.

It should be in the sketch toolbar.

Thanks

It is not considered best practice...it is confusing when someone else looks at the feature tree, it is difficult to remember which feature uses which edges, etc.

Multiple simple sketches are far better in the long run. Much easier to view, modify and constrain.

That said there are is Subshapebinder, and there is WireFilter (available in the Addon manager).
