I even tried to attach the second sketch directly to the first one - to no avail. It is still not recognized as lying in the same plane, leave alone being parallel.

Both are probably due to floating point computation (didn't analyze 1, 2 for sure). Will try to tackle this in the coming days.

If your Mum is a bit like mine - and I guess that all mums are alike - then she may not understand a single bit, but she would nevertheless be very proud of what you are doing here.
