Longitudinal cut in rotational shape
I am a complete beginner working with FreeCAD. I need to design a guide wheel for the old dishwasher (no spare part available). Creating a basic rotary shape was not a problem. I created a 2D model and let this shape rotate. But I would need to cut longitudinal slits in this unit at 60 degrees. What is the optimal procedure?

Re: Longitudinal cut in rotational shape
Now that your first post has been approved you may attach your file and images showing the part you wish to create. Longitudinal cuts in a rotational shape isn't really good enough as a description, at least not for me.
Re: Longitudinal cut in rotational shape
Thanks for your reply. I have included hand sketch of final shape. In red are cuts in rotational part that I aim at. Real dimensions of the wheel before cuts are in FCStd file (also included).

Re: Longitudinal cut in rotational shape
Make a sketch on the xy plane with a rectangle for the cut and do a pocket. Just do one of them. Then select the pocket and make a polar pattern with 6 elements.

Re: Longitudinal cut in rotational shape
Thanks for the hint. However I have more basic problem:
I have created Datum Plane and put an rectangle on it. I cannot set active corner points either for their invisibility or after tilting the plane I can see all edges and red points in cornes without making the points "active" (green) for setting dimensions and symmetry. Neither works an alternative when I created in sketch an rectagle on xy (z=0) - I can see the rectagle in the hole only.
I have played number of tutorials, but the majority of them were leaving fine control behind the scene (I have "retrieved" click "m" for changing the shape in multiline, spacebar for hiding,... )
Sorry for very basic details, but without "fine grained" info I could not find the proper path.
TIA

Use https://wiki.freecadweb.org/File:Sketch ... ection.svg to show the full sketch plane.
A Sketcher Lecture with in-depth information is available in English, auf Deutsch, en français, en español.
Re: Longitudinal cut in rotational shape
I have created final shape as depicted in picture FINAL_SHAPE.jpg (included). However there are some remnants from original 2D boundary and DatumPlane. Are these relevant in preparation for printing (slising)? How can I rid off these part of design? I am including the FCStd file for more details (KOLECKO_SE_ZAREZY_F.FCStd).
Is there any procedure how to validate final model?
TIA

Re: Longitudinal cut in rotational shape
Your DatumPlane has neither Map Mode nor Support. (so it is not just on the face !)
Seam line is normal.
