Curved/toroidal coordinates

Post by ChrisFC »

Hi all,

I am working on some components that are situated in a torus, described by 3 coordinates (R,phi,Z) where R is the sqrt(x*x + y*y), phi is the arctan(x/y) and Z is still Z.

Is there any functionality in FreeCAD to have a toroidal coordinate system? Things like being able to see contours of particular R and phi would be useful for my design work. There may be some botched work around wherein I just keep making cylinders to represent coordinates of constant R, however, I'd like to avoid having to do that if possible.

Any guidance is appreciated

Cheers,
Chris

You can of course use Expressions, but the input is a bit clumsy.
