Whenever you cross a line, you switch from outside to inside or vice versa. If this is not possible, then a sketch cannot be padded.

Example:
Let's assume this sketch, you come from the left border and walk to the right
SnipScreenshot-1049fc.png

- You start at the outside
- you pass the first vertical line, no you are inside; this will be solid
- you pass the circle, now you are outside, this will be a hole with no material
- you pass the other side of the circle, you are inside again
- you pass the left vertical line of the inner rectangle and are outside again
- pass the right vertical line of the inner rectangle and are inside again
- pass the rightmost vertical line and you are outside again

This is what the pad will look like:

Now consider your sketch, look at the left lower line: Which side is inside, and which is outside?

Thanks Chris
I have reviewed what was successful in the past and created a new file.
Note I have deleted and replaced this file. The file below is the latest version and relevant to the description and images below. Apologies all

What I have done here in Sketch 003 is to select to long edge of the top face the Bridge Deck. This revealed Start and end connection points and created an external line between these two points (Line 10 in the Elements).
I then created the sketch again; Line 1 connects the sketch to the point at the outer edge of the deck and then the lines are sequentially numbered clockwise around the sketch.

I then tried to Pad the sketch

When I returned to the sketch Line 1 was not visible.
Kind Regards

It's the same problem I have pointed to you in my previous email in this topic (plus one more)
You have one line too many and your sketch is in free air with no connection to the rest of the body:

That is very strange. I was not able to see a pad result and I had been very careful to check the number of lines in the sketch. There are certainly no extras and one that is listed but cannot see it. It looks like version 4a to me.

It is the correct file which i should have posted, not the one you all received in my earlier post. I have done the same in the earlier post and explained the issue I had with the earlier posting. I am glad you posted your comments as it was only ten that I had realised MY mistake. Apologies again.

Perhaps if you have said:
I have (rather than I shall) attached corrected version in this post (and renamed it rather than leaving exactly the same name ...)
there would have been less confusion ;)

Anyway, I have opened your file and both of my previous posts stand. You still have one dodgy/un-necessary line,
guess which one is it? (I have red arrowed it in both of my previous posts)

You can easily correct it, resulting in:
Deck(bambuko).FCStd
(74.15 KiB) Downloaded 10 times
Is that what you are after?
