Details obscure Drawing

Post by Vagulus »

OS: Windows 10 Version 2009
Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.19.24291 (Git)
Build type: Release
Branch: releases/FreeCAD-0-19
Hash: 7b5e18a0759de778b74d3a5c17eba9cb815035ac
Python version: 3.8.6+
Qt version: 5.15.2
Coin version: 4.0.1
OCC version: 7.5.0
Locale: English/New Zealand (en_NZ)

The areas around the Details in this Drawing obscure the drawing itself.
Can this be avoided?

Thanks

Minimal working example : Where is a simple file with just the problem (replace sprocket with just a disk) ? and the TechDraw ?
Do not use Drawing word but TechDraw.

TechDraw_DetailView :
Tricks
The space around the view outline and the view object border is by default a white area. This means it covers everything behind it. Sometimes there is not enough space on the page and you can save space by reducing this unnecessary white area.

I got as far as creating a Clip Group; getting it the right size; getting it the right position.
Now what? There are no obvious controls.

[wiki]https://wiki.freecadweb.org/TechDraw_ClipGroup[/wiki] doesn't tell me:

(1) what it does;
(2) how to get it to do what it does - even if I want to!

In Inkscape, set the section view forward.

(But I cannot save the page in svg file, just in pdf. What's the bug ?)
