Stl export crash

Post by Peach89 »

Hello and thanks for helping me.

I've have a brand new install of the latest version :

OS: Windows 10 Version 2009
Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.19.24267 +99 (Git)
Build type: Release
Branch: Branch_0.19.3
Hash: 6530e364184ce05ccff39501e175cf2237e6ee4b
Python version: 3.8.6+
Qt version: 5.15.2
Coin version: 4.0.1
OCC version: 7.5.3
Locale: English/United Kingdom (en_GB)

And freecad crashes to desktop whenever I try to export a mesh.
Any mesh, from any file, on both export buttons.

Except, if I go to
"file"-"export"
the file window opens without crashing.
I can then select IGES or step file types to export as without problems.
However, if I select Stl as the export type it crashes immediately.

I'd be grateful for guidance on how to find a "log file" which sometimes people show in these posts. I couldn't find anything likely in the program files.

I only know how to run a test from the test workbench, the error found is attached.

I don't really have any more ideas, thanks in advance everyone.

Did you try in Mesh Design workbench? Create the mesh first, check it for defects with the analyze tool, and export the mesh object from within the workbench.

Every one of my meshes that I create are being created with duplicated points and I hadn't thought to check because I'd never had a problem with the tool before. Thanks so much. Embarrassed that it was something simple but relieved for the easy fix.

Thanks again guys.
