Difficult AdditiveLoft
New user here who try to draw a spare part intended for 3D printing for an old espresso machine. I have managed to draw almost the hole part. But cannot figure out how to draw the funnel part of it. So have been trying for nearly a week now, watching YouTube videos and reading here on the forum as well as other places on internet.
Trying to draw this "half" funnel in a separate test file. I have guessed that this part could be done with help of AdditiveLoft. When it shows up in the 3D drawing it:
1. does not follow the 5 surfaces that I want, but get twisted
2. in the Cura Slicer program the (twisted) surfaces do not get solid, but have ugly holes, that can be seen through
I enclose screenshot as well a photo of the desired part. Hopefully someone can give me some recomendations how to handle it.

Re: Difficult AdditiveLoft
Hi and welcome to the forum!
You didn't attach the model, so you leave us guessing. My guess is, that you have modeled a loft with self intersections.

Thank you for commenting. Here comes my drawing also. Sorry for leaving that out in the first place.

To complete, I also enclose the whole part without the half funnel as I have it today

Re: Difficult AdditiveLoft
The mapping of vertices from one section to the next cannot be controlled by the user. You did almost all you can do here by having the same number of edges in bot sections. You should have avoided touching the sections in their common corner though.
Introducing an additional intermediate section fixes the self intersection issue:

Re: Difficult AdditiveLoft
Another, simpler way, might be just to do an angled extrude.

Re: Difficult AdditiveLoft
If this is acceptable it sure is the better way of modeling. It doesn't meet the OP's model though, where the faces aren't planes. The selected face is slightly twisted:edwilliams16 wrote: ↑Sat May 14, 2022 11:25 pm Another, simpler way, might be just to do an angled extrude.

Re: Difficult AdditiveLoft
Same idea than @edwilliams16 with a pad along a vector.

Re: Difficult AdditiveLoft
Thank you all for your inputs. I am trying to understand all the information and start from the last. So I have some questions to @Shalmeneser:
Your result looks good to me and I will try to implement it in my bigger drawing. But I do not understand what you mean with a vector. I do see your Sketch 001 as a rectangel, But how did you come to that size (not defined) and what is the purpose?
The Pad001 goes down in an angle that looks right to me, but I do not see how you came to that angel and how is it defined? Only the length is defined but why that 30 mm?
I am a beginner with FreeCAD and apologize for my obvious amateur questions

2) 1st PAD : Custom direction (0; -1; 1)
3) Sketch001 is to cut the oversized pad
4) size of Sketch001 is enough to cut what is oversized.
5) Custom direction (0; -1; 1)
6) Enough to be usable : test and retry
