Hello all,
A search for using A2plus to constrain the OD surface of a conduit to the inside edges of a channel as shown in the attachment failed. Is it even possible? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

Not that only 2 elements can be constrained to each other. In your image I see 3 (2 edges and the pipe surface).
In general, please post so that others can help you: What FreeCAD version, what A2plus version. If possible attach a SIMPLE FreeCAD file to be able to reproduce the issue.

Re: A2Plus assembly of conduit OD to edges of a channel
Thank you for your response. My apologies, it was my first post. Here is the version of FC that I'm using:
OS: Windows 10 Version 2009
Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.19.24267 +99 (Git)
Build type: Release
Branch: Branch_0.19.3
Hash: 6530e364184ce05ccff39501e175cf2237e6ee4b
Python version: 3.8.6+
Qt version: 5.15.2
Coin version: 4.0.1
OCC version: 7.5.3
Locale: English/United States (en_US)
The version of A2plus that I'm using is V0.4.55a
I highlighted the things that I'm trying to constrain in the image I attached in my first post. I've tried constraining the conduit surface to just one edge of the channel, both edges of the channel, the point at the end of the edge, all to no avail. I've also tried constraining the OD of the conduit (just the circle) to all of the channel elements I tried with the surface, also with no luck.
I've attached a simple file representing what I first posted.
Thanks,
Mike

Re: A2Plus assembly of conduit OD to edges of a channel
Thanks.
The issue is that setting a cylinder surface to a line is not yet implemented in A2plus.
For such more complex tasks, I recommend to use the Workbench "Assembly 4". This one works by setting local coordinates of each part. The advantage is thereby that you have no problems when you later change a part. With A2plus your assembly might be destroyed because the internal number of the edges change.
With Assembly 4 in your case you can then create a small calculation sketch like this: and then set the distance between the local coordinate systems of the cylinder part to the value Sketcher calculated for you.

Thank you, uwestoehr. I will give Assembly 4 a shot.
