Issue with Gear WB ?

I have a couple of oddities that I think that didn't happen
in the past, but may have mis-rembered so i am wondering if I have
subtley changed my setup

Basically I want to take a bevel gear change it's height and add a boss and a hole

Now upgraded to 0.20 - See below

1) When I select a bevel gear I thought it used to automatically attach. (seems o on an old ver 19 I have) Now
it seems to appear with the with the purple chain link, is that to be expected?
This results in an error like

when trying to pocket a hole.

2) The default gear has a height of 5mm and the teeth look straight

However just increasing the height only (to 12mm), not the beta, the teeth seem to gain a spiral.
Is this correct?

1. I always used gears with the part-workbench only. Not sure what have changed in freecad so the attachment is not working correctly anymore.
2. You have to take care that the height is not more than the max height. If you want a certain height of the gear you should also increase the module.

Hi cadcam, greetings to the community!
With the default data (module = 1, number of teeth = 15, pitch angle 45 °) you can have a theoretical maximum height of 7.5 mm.
To have a height of about 12 mm while maintaining the module = 1 and the number of teeth = 15, the pitch angle should be about = 32 °.
