I enlarged the rectangle used for the pocket, which improves parametricity. By changing the MapPath parameter of the DatumPoint you can change the cutting angle.
If the cylinder should touch tangential it can be clearly seen, what Papyblaise said: the touching edge is no longer a line.

Chris, I see a gap between the cylinder and the cube. This can be corrected by making an extra Pad

First time I see that Draft Upgrade can make Solids. This feature is also not mentioned in the Freecad documentation page https://wiki.freecadweb.org/Draft_Upgrade

Indeed this should be mentioned in the wiki, Draft WB has many features hidden.

Someone can do that (I am not familiar with editing wiki)

Where dou you want to have the bend? If you take Papyblaise's model in reality and bend the ends as indicated in your post, you would no longer have a spiral.
