Datum Point or Line ¿ how to reference in part Separador ?

Post by NHSA_Rainer »

Hi,

I have been trying to set a Datum Point or Line 94mm from the 0,0 origin in the center of the big clamp in order to create a groove in the same way I created it on the small clamp.

I thought setting a Datum Point or a Datum Line as rotation center would allow me to rotate a slot and the groove it around that Datum Point or Line.

Have been trying for a while to get it active but to no avail.

Attach the Datum Line this way:

Here is how I would do it. Mapmode can be very helpful. You can map a datum line to the curve center, then map a datum plane to the datum line, then sketch on the datum plane that has an axis of the curve. Here is an example.

There are some possibilities of TNP because of a mapped edge but this is parametric.

You can also add a construction line to the sketch for the Groove:

Thanks. Tried that several times but never was able to use the Datum line as revolving center.

Make the solid invisible and sketch visible, select one of the inner radii and select the DL.

Thanks and this did the trick. I made a Datum Line and then added a datum Plane and so I was able to get the groove around it.

Did not know how to use a construction line as a reference for grooving or maybe pocketing. Thanks.

Tested this method and in my case it only works choosing an angle of 359°. With 360° I only get the groove on one side.

Does this have something to do that it is not a full solid in 360° ?

Groove on one side not present = 360°
