Issue with draft and polar pattern

Post by ctron »

Hi,

I do have an issue where I had a body with a sketch -> pad -> draft -> polar pattern. The last step, the polar pattern, only seems to duplicate the added parts of the draft, not the full part so far.

Is that a bug? Or expected? And if that is expected, how would I accomplish duplicated the full part?

It is a feature pattern, it operates on the selected features.

So select all that must be patterned before using the tool, or add the features in the dialogue.

Thanks for the tip. However, that doesn't seem to work either. It seems like this adds only the pad:

Draft and pad are in the wrong order, move them by dragging....

Indeed, that solved the issue! Thanks!

That is a bit hard to understand on your own. And I am not sure why a different order might make sense. Especially as the behaviour of the add/remove buttons is a bit weird. And there is no visual indication that the order of the list box can be changed.

Not sure how an improvement could look like. Maybe some up/down buttons to indicate that list entry order is important.

Anyway, thanks for your help in understanding this!

They are processed in the order of their appearance in the list: The pad has to patterned before the draft, because the draft does nothing in plain air where the pads will come in the (near!) future.
Imagine you pattern several pads and pockets. Then the order is of course important, e.g. if a pad closes a hole that had been made by a pad.

This topic is not related to the Draft Workbench. The PartDesign WB has a PartDesign_Draft command.

This is BTW a good example how leaving out the workbench prefix of a command name can lead to confusion and may not be such a great idea...
