Finding DoFs that do not show

Post by tre4b »

The sketch here is a front elevation of a cover and mounting panel for a Zigbee sensor, essentially a reference sketch from which I will create the individual sketches to pad etc.

My challenge is that it is showing two Dofs still outstanding but the normal click does not highlight anything. I've not encountered this before and wondered if anyone has any tips on finding these. I can of course just ignore them, however it would be better to understand if I could.

A wild guess is, that you have created some additional geometric element lying beolow another one or having zero size. The sketch is too complicated to spot this easily. You may consider to model only half of it, and then use a mirror outside.

A master sketch needs to be as simple as possible :
* You don't need all details (fillet ?)
* You don't need all the repetitions (later Mirror or Polar)
* You can do T-joint or intersecting lines
* You can do multiple master sketches (refering each other) to stay simple

I don't feel you need master sketch here, imho.
(There is no 0.4 at the bottom ?)

Thanks Chris B and Shalmeneser

Thanks for the tips on Master sketches. This is the first time I had tried using this approach as my last model just became so confused with Clones and all sorts! Doing multiples and treating them as "layers to each other would work and be easier to manage. I had not thought of it that way.
