Make Tools Stay Put?

Post by rebeltaz »

In FreeCAD 0.19, in Sketcher, the Section View / Full View toggle icon isn't visible without clicking the dropdown arrow, so I move things over a bit. When I close Sketcher and then open it back up, the tools are back to their default position. Is there not a way to make them stay put? Glue? Alien tape? Anything?

I read your post, but I do not really understand what you are seeing. You show a very condensed version of the toolbar.

What "dropdown arrow" are you talking about?

I'm sorry. I guess I mean this symbol - '>>'

When you click that, there are other icons available, the one I'm most interested in is the very next one "when in edit mode, switch between section view and full view."

I can drag the toolbars around and make it visible (like in this screenshot), but it refuses to stay that way. When I close that sketch and reopen that or any other sketch, the tools are right back in their default position.

I am not the best at explaining myself. Hopefully that makes more sense?

I cannot see the entire screen, so I am not sure what configuration you have.

In any case, it seems you will need to drag the desired toolbars to a separate line to prevent collapse.

It may be the image you posted, but your icons look huge to me. Unless you have a very large screen you will not be able to see a lot of icons on one page.

At this time I do not believe you can change the icons in each section, but you can move any section to a separate line or to an edge. Those choices should stick.

Sorry.. didn't think it'd be helpful to show the whole screen. Here you go.

I don't really have a whole lot of screen space available for more lines. Is it possible to get rid of any of those individual sections? Like the macro set? I have no need for those.

I really appreciate your help.

You can make your own custom toolbars but I think you need to recreate them if you in install a new version. I remove the "File tools" and then make a custom toolbar with just the "recompute tool", this removes about 10 icons. That's reminds me that I wanted to start a topic to do this as a default, does anyone use the "File" toolbar besides using the recompute...

Learn to use Tools->Customize or Right click on the toolbar.
