external geometry to another body

Post by Arisoy »

Hello i just made a box with Freecad.

I want to made the top of the box. For that i added a new body and now i want to project the box (body1) on the sketch from the body2. But it seems not working.

Can someone explain me how to do that?

not possible directly with PartDesign
made Body do the cube
in sketcher , reference the sketch on the face of the cube , Pad it in Part , return to PartDsign create a Body001 and drag the Pad there
note: Body and Body002 are not merged in this way

In your exemple the body2 is not link in any way too the shape of the body1 or did i miss something?

I attached my design to that post. What i want is to draw the top of the box.

I don't know what to do to give it the same shape as the body.

Arisoy, it can be a little tricky when selecting screen objects for reference. When selecting something view the selection in the tree and make sure you are selecting the shapebinder (for your working body) and not the object or shapebinder from some other body. It's best to hide the original object and other shapebinders so you can view just the working in-body shapebinder.
