The version of FreeCAD I use is:
OS: Windows 10 Version 2009
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.20.29177 (Git)
Build type: Release
Branch: releases/FreeCAD-0-20
Hash: 68e337670e227889217652ddac593c93b5e8dc94
Python 3.8.10, Qt 5.15.2, Coin 4.0.1, Vtk 8.2.0, OCC 7.6.2
Locale: English/United States (en_US)
Installed mods:
* Curves 0.3.0
* LCInterlocking
When I open in FreeCad a model and I click in the model's tree or in the model itself, everything is still fine. However, if I move down the vertical scrollbar of the model's tree or rotate the model in the 3d view, then after each click in the tree or model, the "Object selection" dialog appears for no reason. I've gone through all the preferences, but I can't find how to turn that off.
The "Object selection" dialog screen appears for no reason.

Re: The "Object selection" dialog screen appears for no reason.
What is the object selection dialogue?
Maybe a screenshot?

Where do the check boxes in the tree view come from?
Re: The "Object selection" dialog screen appears for no reason.
There is a setting in Preferences to show checkboxes in the tree.
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan: Spock: "...His pattern indicates two-dimensional thinking."
Re: The "Object selection" dialog screen appears for no reason.
So this dialogue is launched from the selection view, which would be below the combo view, this part is not included in the screenshot.
Did you try to close that if it is open?
Otherwise do you have any extraneous devices connected to your computer (joysticks, etc) if so try after disconnecting them.
I see it can also be brought by selecting an object then CTRL-C.

Re: The "Object selection" dialog screen appears for no reason.
@djeear maybe try to hard reset your preferences (i.e. to rename the "%APPDATA%\FreeCAD" folder).
Re: The "Object selection" dialog screen appears for no reason.
Thanks for your responses. I completely uninstalled FreeCAD 20.0, including my preferences and then installed FreeCAD 20.1. The problem has now disappeared.
