i have been having trouble with additive pipe also
i am making a model of a bottle cap with 2 thread starts
when i do a polar array to get the second thread, made with an additive pipe, the thread turns inside out and becomes a subtractive element
tried multiple combinations of boollion and cuts
i remembered in the 90dys in cad-key, that i had to make the outline of my extrusion in a continuous series with the beginning of one segment connecting to the end of the previous line
i did this in a clockwise direction i think cadkey needed a counterclockwise loop but that was a long time ago
this seems to take care of the problem
i hope this helps
spiel check takes care of most problems but i cant always tell
Creation of additivepipe fails

Re: Creation of additivepipe fails
I have split this from the other topic which just happened to have the same title.
Without the file it is hard to say anything about the cause of the fail.

Re: Creation of additivepipe fails
i asked about this problem in
disappearing polar array earlier this week
the solution given was to build up the polar array piece by piece
which seemed to work until i added on more features.
i went back to pounding my head against the wall and came up with keeping the sketch profile tail to tip. which calmed down the model
i also made up a helix from 30 deg arc segments but this did not seem to correct the problem but i left it in because of laziness.
the final model is to large to attach 3944kb

Re: Creation of additivepipe fails
I prefer to start with the less esoteric portions first and build on them. In this case, I rotated Sketch002 away from the base plane by 10 degrees to get the seam line out of the way of later features.
I used Check Geometry on each feature as I built it to confirm the result was valid. The final solid passes geo check with BOP turned on.

where do find check geometry
Re: Creation of additivepipe fails
In the wiki, where it's always worth looking: Part CheckGeometry.
