Here is a new version of the Logo, as I would think if I had to start from scratch

I thought, I know I shouldn't think , that it was better to reverse the colors of the Logo...now the F is red as in the current logo

This is a very quick attempt done in Freecad itself. Just a screenshot, with the planes. But it could be done without the planes as well.
I suppose it can use some bevels as well - or even better rendering.
I suppose it is also possible to show some more technical prowess - an internal thread in the gear, or some holes in the F.
But I like that it references the old logo, and that it is CAD style - well because it is.

A proposal i made some time ago:
Re: FreeCAD Logo Gallery - Please read the first post!
Here is my submission for a new FreeCAD Logo. I have kept the 8-toothed cog, and a similar colour scheme. The solid part of the red shape is a truncated lower-case letter "f" (as a nod to the current design), the outlined part of the red shape is an inverted section of the letter "c" (also needed to balance the white-space) ...Just thought I'd put it out there.

My idea is to keep the originality, adding curves and applying modern effects.
How about a new theme with a modern look
