I like the idea, especially of the first two - if only I could see the C better.

Thanks for your feedback!

I agree, the overlay versions are less readable and I tend to prefer the simple solutions. I like the idea of referring to the current logo.

I still redesigned a version with an overlay and I accentuated the contrast to make it more readable. I find it works best as a simple icon.

I also overstepped the top bar of the F on the flat version. It is true that there is a form of optical illusion that made it appear shorter. On the other hand, I don't like when it goes too far.
I like that we can see a square and a rectangle. It creates a form of duality.

I understand what you have tried. But at first glance it looks like a deformed question mark.

If that is the case, it came out more capable than i was hoping for...
A question mark personifies my feelings each time i tried to use Freecad in production. You simply can't see the benefit. Until you get the hang of it, then you can not unsee it ;)

Hi !
I do really like your proposal Nicolas !
It stands out as a simple, elegant, pretty readable (for those knowing which letters to look at) reinterpretation of the actual one. It keeps the dual color scheme, its "interlocking" aspect. It is more compact which is an advantage for many uses and still reads well on dark and light backgrounds.

Now, let's use it in another way :D
