Now, let's use it in another way
Pretty cool. Could you round the top corner of the F so it's totally symmetrical along vertical axis?
I like this one too.
So I've added openBrain 's rounded F so we can see how that looks. (Gradients can easily be added later)

Reminds me a lot of this Chrismas decoration that is very common where I come from .
Not sure if they are common in the rest of the world?

I'm curious what it looks like when swapping small and big radius corners.

Like changing the radius on the upper curves?

Actually just inverting smaller and bigger radius corners from your previous picture.

I like Mhalil's logo, but I like Nicolas more. And there were also several other good ones earlier in the thread.
Are we going to have a vote at some point? Perhaps announce a deadline for submissions to be considered for the vote. And then we could have three rounds of voting. One for determining a short list of top 5 candidates. And then a second vote to determine the runner up. Finally we would have a vote between the runner up, and the current logo.
I agree, it is about time and I like your idea with 3 rounds. Maybe 0.20 would be the version when freecad finally gets a new logo!
(Btw as a swede, my mind also went to that type of xmas decoration xD)

Maybe that one could be a programmatic logo that appears on special date (i.e.14 Feb). Not sure if Qt allows this.
