Re: FreeCAD Website Design
Added a white border around the screenshot to increase contrast with the background.

Re: FreeCAD Website Design
I changed my Preferences so the curves are displayed more smoothly and updated the image in my previous post.
I think without the border looks better - to me that white border seems too glaring (as annoyingly bright).

Re: FreeCAD Website Design
Just an idea to take a tablet computer frame and mount a freecad viewport picture in it with Gimp or Inkscape.
Re: FreeCAD Website Design
Hmm....this may be a bit confusing or misleading since FC doesn't have much (any?) tablet/touch/gesture support. I'm concerned this will give users the impression it does.freecad-heini-1 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 5:38 pm Just an idea to take a tablet computer frame and mount a freecad viewport picture in it with Gimp or Inkscape.

Re: FreeCAD Website Design
The current solution where you removed the FreeCAD window but preserved the viewport (original colors) seems reasonable to me. At least for now. If we would use different color to represent viewport on the home page. Likely that would somehow imply it's time to change the viewport colors. But i have a feeling if we start such effort today it could end up taking a year or two to get results and reach general agreement.
Re: FreeCAD Website Design
It already is beautiful, artful, modern and you don't see such design just everywhere. Therefore unique. The essence of FreeCAD was preserved and looking at the home page and using FreeCAD isn't totally different experience. No JS effects are being used ATM and that makes it easy to navigate. As sometimes JS effects make the page hard to navigate and can introduce confusion if not done good. If some further issues get reported or some further refinements are done i am OK with that. But in short it is already looking good in my opinion!
P.S. Still getting used to the idea this milestone was reached.

Re: FreeCAD Website Design
Sorry - I just noticed that some parts that should have been transparent aren't transparent, hiding part of the flywheel. I updated the image in my post at the top of this page.
FreeCAD does have touch / gesture support - DeepSOIC added in back in 0.16.Kunda1 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 6:45 pmHmm....this may be a bit confusing or misleading since FC doesn't have much (any?) tablet/touch/gesture support.
