Can you explain what it is supposed to trigger?

The icon is for for add the feature : "datum reference" in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
You can see an exemple in the page : http://www.cqeacademy.com/cqe-body-of-k ... wings-gdt/

In the wikipedia example the reference is labelled A and B.

Now i create the code of the feature and i need an icon : I have create quickly an icon but it is not very nice.

I will be happy helping you.
It is useful indeed. But, are you sure to create a separated tool rather than improve the TD Balloon tool? (as wandererfan suggested).

Hi, bitacovir,

very nice. I will integrate it in the code ASAP. Many thanks.

And concerning the datum reference. I would use the balloon tool but if we want a good GDT functionnality it's better to have separate tools :
- to have a good logical mangement of all feature
- checking the objet type linked by reference. Datum refrence can be linked to : edge, feature frame and cosmetic line (like centering, etc).

But it's ok i have a first release of the tool linked to edge. I need testing it and it will be good for the next year ;)
And it is a good exercice for me to contribute to this awesome software.

See you later for news.

Bye

It's not a bad icon, but does it fit with the rest of the TechDraw icons? I think it looks a bit out of place.

TechDraw dimensions are yellowish, and annotations are blueish. What would this be, a sort of dimension or a sort of annotation?

Also, the "A" kinda looks odd. We already changed the icon for TechDraw_NewAnnotation so that it looks more similar to the Draft Text tool: Annotation/Rich Text Annotation problem. Maybe we should use the same style, slanted, with highlights, not entirely solid.

Yes, I agree in some points.
First , I think it should be yellow because it has similar role to TD Balloon Annotation.
Second, In fact i tried to use the same character A from Rich text Annotation, but for this icon the character is smaller and it does not fix well. It is unrecognizable. So, I had to use a more simple one that looks good for each variation of the icon size.
Any way, I changed the design to follow the convention patterns of the rest of the yellow icons, with character and without. I think it looks better the following alternatives..

Hi,

this feature : GDT reference is more closer of dimension than annotation. But perhaps another color is possible ?

At this time i prepare a patch for the first tool. But after two other icon will be necessary for next feature :

- a tool to create a GDT control frame : explanation here https://www.gdandtbasics.com/feature-control-frame/
- surface roughness tool : explanation here https://www.cnccookbook.com/surface-fin ... lculators/

the last is not a GDT part feature but very usefull

If someone have time for these jobs, it would be helpfull.

Bye.
